12" x 12" collage on 1/2 inch fiber board. ( 1 of 4 )
Just big enough to fit into my backpack.
I just designed a beautiful little app called Big Cartel Checkout. It lets you sell your goods, in person, and accept cash or credit cards.
I usually create one piece of collage work per month as I am working on a design project. I use collage to help me work through certain design problems, it's messy, fast and instant. While working on Big Cartel Checkout I produced 4 collage pieces. I produce this collage in a way that it has to work as a whole( 4 pieces ) , but also in quarters. I hang these all around me as I work, constantly tearing them down and putting them back together. Constantly making myself prune. Finding that elegant point of balance.
Big Cartel Checkout is out and can be downloaded now and it looks as though people like it and it's working. We tested the app throughout the entire build, extensively, but only in hypothetical situations and through beta testers. But I've never really had the real pressure/pleasure of selling something in person and having to take another persons REAL credit card info, FOR REAL.
It makes me feel like I could be missing out on some secrets that only experience gives you. And I just happen to have a collage in 4 pieces that I can travel with. Looking forward to my first in-person art sale - wherever that may be.
